Troy poses as the “Thinker” in Virgina City, Montana
This image took some serious editing in Camera Raw and Photoshop, because this image was way overexposed. First I opened it in Camera Raw, and turned down the Exposure and Brightness, then I turned up the Fill Light. This made things look pretty flat, but not as bright, so I added Blacks and Contrast. Finally I changed it to Grayscale and played with the color sliders to adjust the different areas of grayscale to bring out some contrast. Then I finished with Curves to balance the Levels.
Finally I opened it it Photoshop to add some Sharpening and a little airbrushes to even out his skin. It was cold outside so his nose and cheeks had some red blotches that needed smoothing. Then I brightened up his eyes with a little sharpening and dodging.
I never thought I’d see the day when my child is all over a professional site! I love, love them all! Troy was so proud this morning to see them and sat at the computer admiring them for the longest time. He noticed the details of his eyes, or lips that you enhanced and thought it was pretty cool. I think his famous smirk will be on his face all day! These shots are gorgeous and you and your talent are amazing!
Love, love these photos of this little boy ~ perfectly captured childhood without over doing : ) Thanks for sharing. I’ve not used airbrushes for skin, but am going to try them.
Thanks for the comment, Debra! There is a fine balance when you soften the skin. It can be easily overdone, so I am glad you approve. I tried to keep it subtle, but he did have some very ruddy cheeks from the cold winter day. Have a great day.
