The details on these purple orchids were intriguing, especially with the yellow background, so I couldn’t resist taking some snaps… even though the announcer at the U.S. Botanic Garden was telling all the stragglers to find the nearest exit because they were closed. Sometimes the best shots come on the way out the door at closing time. My daughter was patiently waiting outside the front doors. We headed toward the Metro, where she headed out to her Japanese class and I made a beeline to the tidal basin for some sunset shots of the cherry blossoms and monuments. I do love shooting in D.C. It is beautiful and fascinating with so many things to capture.

Very nice. I love the backlighting and the composition, and the complimentary coloring.
Great photos and amazing Orchids! Love it!
As a florist I am always amazed at the intricate veining, color and detail that are in each flower. I love that you were able to capture these orchids that are in their absolute prime. I am always in awe at God’s creations…especially with the beauty of flowers. I know that is one of the reasons that being a floral artist speaks to my soul…flowers and photography are some of my favorite combinations of art.
