Pink Orchid

I found this striking pink orchid in the visitors center at the National Arboretum in Washington D.C. My daughter, Rachel, and I were waiting for the Bonsai Tree exhibit to open, so I had some time to shoot some macro flower shots and this was my favorite orchid, due to its vivid color veining. The azaleas were just starting to come on, and we enjoyed walking around the large bushes in that area, and the bonsai trees were absolutely amazing!  They have the largest collection you could imagine and many have been groomed for hundreds of years. The oldest bonsai was a gift from Japan, that is nearly four centuries old. I will post some of my favorite bonsai trees in the future, but for now, I hope you enjoy this pink and yellow orchid.
