The people, culture, and landscapes of Myanmar
Myanmar is the most religious country in Southeast Asia. Everywhere you go the young girls are in training to be nuns, dressed in pink and orange… while the young boys are dressed in maroon as they train as novice monks. All young people spend a period of several days to months getting this religious training in a local monastery. Unlike other countries such as Vietnam or Cambodia where I traveled last year, you can photograph monks here. In fact, they want you to share their devotion to their faith. Notice how the older monks are allowed to have a cell phone or a larger camera to take photos when they visit the famous pagodas to worship.
