I love the color of the Arizona desert at sunrise. It may be my favorite time of day, except for the amazing sunset skies when clouds magnify the light. It is fun to shoot into the sun and get the sun’s rays to reach out across the scene, like in the “Sunrise Flare” image below. The tricky part is then dealing with the inevitable sun spots. I used to edit them all out, but now I like to leave most of them in. It kind of reminds me of looking through a pair of sunglasses. The colors are always mellow and smooth when you shoot with the sun at your back at sunrise, like in the “Arizona Red Sunrise” image below.
