This Basilica is absolutely amazing, yet not among the top tourist stops in Washington D.C.. It is near the National Franciscan Monastery featured in my last few posts. The exterior of this Basilica looks so different from the well-known Washington National Cathedral and there are many incredible churches and halls. My favorite was the Crypt Church in the lowest level, so that is where I spent the thirty minutes I had to spend. Here is a link to the website, if you want to see more of the amazing Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

It just seems so dark and grungy down there! But – the effects look sweet for these. I think my more favorite ones are those above the ground. Haha! 🙂
Was it actually empty, or did you have to take people out?
It was empty, but I had to wait for a few random tourists to walk through. It was not too busy though, so I only waited a few times for people to move out. They let you use a tripod in all these churches so that was awesome.
