I spent Saturday night photographing nightscapes around Silver Lake, in Brighton, Utah
This is seriously addicting! It is fascinating to use a camera to capture something hidden in the night sky. I love the Milky Way and the explosion of color that goes with it. You need to find a dark place away from city lights to pull off a great nightscape. Check out this ebook by Royce Bair, who is the master nightscape photographer in the world! It was fun to work with you and I can’t wait to join one of your workshops!
I am not sure why, but the distant hill came up in bright red light! Perphaps someone had a campfire blazing and with a long shutter of 20 seconds it exposures the red glow enough to be seen. Or may someone else was just light painting across the way?
I positioned my tripod so it would shoot straight up, then I practically laid on the ground to get this angle and composition. I wanted the milky way to appear to be coming out of the treetops.
Beautiful! Thank you for capturing and sharing.
Love these images. Makes me miss hanging out with you on all those crazy excursion nights. Numbers 1,2 and 7 are my favorites. I love the colors and composition. Well done!
No. 4 is my favorite. I love the trail with the balance of shadows and highlights that transition well.
