Witnessing the flying monks at Hsinbyume Pagoda has been an amazing experience!

I love to capture fast action, so photographing these two novice monks having a grand time flying across the arches of this beautiful white pagoda was a highlight of our day trip to Mingun, along the Irrawaddy River, near Mandalay. First, we boarded a boat in Mandalay, then hopped on tuk-tuks who raced us through a bustling market to this gorgeous all-white temple, built by the king of the Konbaung Dynasty in 1819 to memorialize his pure love for his first wife, who died in childbirth.

I captured these two novice monks flying across the arches at the gorgeous Hsinbyme Pagoda in Mingun, Myanmar with a fast 1/1000 sec shutter speed. This is part of my ENLIGHTEN TOUR 2020 – Capturing the fascinating people, cultures and landscapes of Myanmar
