One early morning on Lake Powell, when the water was smooth and the clouds were interesting, I ventured out on a jet ski to see what I could shoot. Or course, there was no way to use a tripod from a moving jetski, so I bracketed my shots and held as still as possible. For post production, I tried a combination of camera raw, Nik Color Efex (and Silver Efex), Photomatix and Photoshop. It was a gorgeous morning and I wanted to recreate what I saw and how I felt.
Do you prefer the color or black and white?
Wow!!! These were taken on a jetski?!? So cool and vibrant. I definitely love the color the best. Stunning
Very beautiful photos indeed! And your photos are really making me ‘trunky’ (or homesick). We will be home from our mission on September 22, and on October 4 we head down to our houseboat time share at Lake Powell. We have wonderful family memories there, and I, too, have tried to get shots from a jet ski. Now I have a different approach. I make my husband moor the houseboat where I get a beautiful view of dawn and sunrise, or dusk and sunset. I wake up and walk 2 steps to the back deck and have a different beautiful sunrise every day. Even though we’ve spent 1 1/2 years in the most spectacularly beautiful country imaginable, it is still not home!! Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos.
These are lovely! I can’t decide which I love more, the color or the B/W. Lake Powell is absolutely on my list of places to visit!!
Very beautiful pictures…love both the black and white, and color. But the last picture with the reflections is the best.
I love pictures with reflections. When I’m out shooting and I come up to water, I try getting reflections shots.
Thanks for sharing your comment. Thanks for reminding me how intriguing the reflections are. You are right, but I somtimes forget! I hope you find a nice reflection today. Hmm… that would be a great topic for a photography contest. Thanks again!
