I like the number 13, don’t you? I defy its connotation of bad luck.  In fact, whenever I see the number 13, I rejoice… because I know I will soon be celebrating GOOD LUCK!  So you can imagine my pure joy when I walked by this little home at 1313 Quincy street. My daughter, Rachel and I were walking the streets between the National Franciscan Monastery and the National Basilica when I saw this beautiful ivy framing a double-dose of the lucky #13.

PROCESS:
For the first shot, I ran it through Camera Raw for a 10-second enhancement, then I opened it in Photoshop, where I used my Nik plugin to add a Warm Sunset recipe effect. Finally I added some selective sharpening around the sign in Photoshop with the Smart Sharpen filter.

On the second image, I captured (hand-held) three quick exposures (+2, 0 -2) and tone-mapped the blend in Photomatix, with some refinements in ACR and PS.
